ABOUT CALUM

Nostalgia mixed with grit

Calum Busby is a Scottish Singer Songwriter based between Barcelona and Edinburgh. For the past five years he has adapted his Indie Folk style to the international music scene of Barcelona, working with a whole host of musicians and artists from all over the world.
His songs are full of passion and vulnerability and often touch on current issues and their implications on modern life. Calum’s influences are rooted in the genres of Alternative Indie Rock and Folk. His lyrics borrow from the soulful energy of artists such as Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen and John Lennon while sonically tapping into the cinematic stylings of more contemporary acts, including Wolf Alice and The Last Shadow Puppets.
His live performances are renowned for their dynamism, switching seamlessly between raw power and gentle intimacy.
In 2019, he was invited to play for the BBC at the Edinburgh Festival and in 2022 Calum played his biggest show to date at La Nau in Barcelona. The following year he played as part of Primavera Sound tours in Barcelona.
Calum has been interviewed on the Afternoon Show on BBC Radio Scotland and his songs have been featured on BBC Radio Scotland and Amazing Radio.

In 2024 Calum will release his first album “Wear Your Sadness As A Smile”. The album tackles topics such as mental health, politics, love and shame.
